Analyst | Technical Data Analyst

We are a hybrid team of data analysts, data engineers, BI developers, and actuarial-engineers that are responsible for the design and implementation of our core data-systems including data ingestion, data integration, data transformation, data analysis, and BI development.

* Analyze insurance carriers' data to develop insights about their business portfolios across one or more commercial property lines of business and synthesize results for internal and external stakeholders


* Design and implement analytical SQL queries and other models to monitor carrier portfolios for trends, anomalies, emerging patterns, and data quality issues


* Lead discussions with internal product teams to communicate findings and provide actionable information to improve Verisk's industry solutions


* Develop in-depth understanding of insurance coverages, actuarial methodologies, analytic models, information quality control, and data governance


* Collaborate with internal divisions to ensure widespread access to and understanding of our core data assets

Requirements


* Bachelor's degree in a STEM major, or Non-STEM major with 4+ years of relevant work experience


* Clear and concise communication, both verbal and written, and a commitment to developing highly effective presentation skills


* Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SQL is a MUST for day-to-day work


* Ability to work independently and as part of a team while working on several concurrent projects and prioritizing to meet deadlines


* An innovative mindset that pursues creativity and curiosity in data, research, and technology with a continued growth mindset.

Preferred Qualifications


* Work/internship experience in property/casualty insurance


* Prior work/internship experience in a data-centric department


* Experience with Snowflake or Sigma


* Knowledge of data management principles


* Experience with a programming language (C++, JAVA, R, or Python)


* BI / Data visualization skills
