Intern- Information Technology, Generative A.I
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
* Conduct literature reviews on Mixture of Experts(MoE) and other advanced generative AI architectures
* Experiment with scaffolding methods to optimize MoE models for open-source training
* Assist in benchmarking and quantifying improvements in generative AI models.
* Explore scalability, performance trade-offs, and inference efficiency of different MoE implementations
* Document research findings, assist in writing technical reports, and present key insights
* Collaborate with the mentor to analyze the product implications of generative AI advancements
* engage in discussions on AI-driven innovation, specifically related to Coherent's domain.
Education & Experience
* Currently Pursuing or recently completed a Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field
* Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, or JAX
* Coursework or research expericne in deep learning, generative models, or MoE architectures is a plus
Skills
* Strong understanding of transformer architectures and large scale AI models
* Proficiency in Python, with experience in deep learning libraries( PyTorch, Tensorflow, or JAX)
* Familiarity with quantization, model optimization techniques, and parallel computing(CUDA,TPUs, or other accelerators)
* Ability to analyze and interpret AI performance metrics and training dynamics
* Excellent problem solving skills and a quantitative approach to research
* Self Motivated with a strong desire to learn and contribute to cutting edge AI developments
* Effective communication skills to present research insights and document findings.
Working Conditions
* This position is onsite
* May require occasional off-site meetings or travel
* Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
* Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job
* May require occasional overtime and flexibility in work hours to accommodate the executive's needs
Physical Requirements
* Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings.
* Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
* Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
* Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
* Mobility within the office environment to attend meetings or interact with colleagues.
