Nursing Director Heart Institute (Full Time)
Job Summary
Responsible for leading, planning, and supporting the delivery of high-quality nursing patient care services across the Heart Institute.
Works directly with the Chief Nursing Officer, the Heart Institute Administrator, and other clinical leaders to plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing operations for assigned services/departments.
Directs goals and objectives for the department(s) and projects/programs assigned in collaboration with the medical, clinical, and administrative leadership teams to ensure standards of professional practice, regulatory requirements, continuous performance improvement initiatives, financial accountability, and responsibility are optimized and in compliance.
Collaborates with leaders and directs improvements in employee engagement, well-being, and patient family experience.
Supports and upholds the Health System's Mission, Vision, Values, and Guiding Behaviors, Patient Bill of Rights, and the Code of Business and Ethical Conduct.
Job Specific Duties
* Responsible for developing and maintaining a capable nursing leadership team that is accountable for coordinated and efficient day-to-day operations, across the Heart Institute.
Oversees and supports talent development of the leadership team to ensure succession planning, mentorship, and coaching within departments leading to strategic goal accomplishment.
Provides ongoing performance feedback, coaching, and mentoring to leaders and staff.
Builds a high-performance environment by fostering staff empowerment, holding team members accountable, utilizes the department engagement champions to increase staff communication, recognition, and talent retention.
* Serve as a voting member of the Heart Institute Executive Committee (HIEC) representing nursing and overall service line short and long-term interests as they relate to clinical outcomes, staff engagement, and customer service.
Collaborate with HIEC and divisional leaders to continually assess and provide strategic direction to meet projected volumes and resource needs.
* Creates an environment of shared decision-making, promotes multidisciplinary collaboration on patient care, and related issues.
Develop and maintain relationships with key leaders across the organization to ensure collaborative partnerships that meet resource needs within all areas of scope.
* Lead or support departmental, service line, and/or organizational initiatives as requested in a manner that ensures continual focus on consumer needs and organizational priorities.
* Maintain presence within the national and international congenital heart disease community to ensure the Heart Institute, specifically Cardiac Nursing, is on the forefront of practice improvements and market changes.
Ensure a high level of compliance with regulatory standards, CMS, and public-reporting indicators of clinical practice.
