Firmware Architect
At Schneider Electric, we design innovative hardware and software solutions that make energy safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.
In this context, the Firmware Architect Engineering role is critical to ensuring the robustness, performance, and scalability of embedded systems integrated into our products (electrical protection, industrial automation, IoT, control & monitoring systems, etc.).
As part of our R&D teams, you will play a central role in defining, designing, and governing the firmware architecture of highly demanding and regulated products.
You act as a technical expert, trusted advisor, and system architect, collaborating closely with hardware, software, product teams, quality, and manufacturing.
Your missions :
Architecture & Design :
* Define and lead the firmware architecture for embedded platforms.
* Translate product requirements into robust and scalable technological choices.
* Design modular architectures to support reusability, maintainability, and cybersecurity.
* Ensure alignment between firmware, hardware, and application software.
Development & Technical Expertise :
* Contribute to the development of critical firmware components (C/C++, Python, Yocto, RTOS, low-level drivers, etc.).
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development engineers.
* Validate technology selections, tools, libraries, and frameworks.
* Deploy best practices in firmware engineering (testability, documentation, patterns, performance).
Reliability, Safety & Compliance :
* Participate in functional and saftey analysis (FMEA, FMEDA, etc.).
* Ensure adherence to Schneider Electric's product quality and regulatory standards (electrical safety, cybersecurity, industrial regulations).
* Contribute to design-for-test and overall product robustness.
Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration :
* Act as a key technical reference for internal teams (hardware, softare, industrialization, product owners).
* Lead and facilitate technical design reviews and decision-making.
* Coordinate with external partners or offshore development centers.
* Conduct technology watch on firmware, embedded systems, and IoT trends.
Your profile :
Education & Experience :
* Master's degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
* Significant experience (5+ years) in firmware development and embedded architecture.
* Proven track record in designing complex or safety-critical embedded systems (Yocto, MCU/MPU, low-level development).
Technical Skills :
* Strong command of embedded C/C++, Python).
* Solid understanding of microcontroller architectures.
* Strong knowledge of embedded communication protocols (MODBUS, CAN, Ethernet).
* Understanding of secure firmware principles (secure boot, OTA, cryptography).
* Proven track record in designing complex or safety-critical embedded systems (Yocto, MCU/MPU, low-level ...
