Admissions & Collections Clerk - CHC-Family Clinic

The County of Riverside's University Health System-Community Health Center seeks a regular Admissions & Collection Clerk to join their CHC-Family Clinic team.

Under general supervision, incumbents will be responsible for r egistering and checking in a high volume of patient appointments, including express care, verifying insurance, both calling and using web portals ; specialized clerical work in checking-in, admitting, pre-registering, or scheduling patients for hospitalization or clinic visits, evaluating and determining financial liability for services and establishing payment sources, arranging payment plans consistent with patient ability to pay; performing other related duties as required.

These positions are located in Moreno Valley.
The most competitive candidates will have the following professional experience and knowledge:
- Knowledge of medical coverages including: Medicare, Medi-Cal, Managed Care Plans, and Medicare Advantage plans
- Clerical experience

This position has a 5/40 schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-5:00PM.

In CHC-Family Care, the department is responsible for enrolling patients in programs such as Family PACT, Hospital Presumptive Eligibility, and Sliding Fee Discount Programs.

Duties include ensuring referrals are properly added to patient visits and completing registration-related tasks such as Claim Edit and Charge Review Workqueues.

The position also handles IEHP transfer forms for patients not assigned to RUHS, collects co-pays and share-of-cost payments, and provides excellent customer service by answering patient questions regarding follow-up visits, prescription issues, coverage details, and necessary paperwork.

Additional responsibilities include scheduling follow-up visits for discharged patients and coordinating with back-office staff to accommodate walk-up patients requesting same-day appointments.•Review patient personal data to evaluate the patient's eligibility for medical assistance programs using formal medical program guidelines.

•Review patient insurance forms and cards to ensure completeness and accuracy as required by assistance programs and private insurance carriers for billing and payment.

•Evaluate possible assistance eligibility and refer patients to Medi-Cal and MISP as appropriate.

•Contact patient's medical insurance carrier to obtain authorization for treatment and verify eligibility and coverage.

•Assist patients with scheduling hospital or clinic appointments in person or over the phone.

•Pre-register scheduled services during scheduling process or any time prior to receiving services as directed by supervisor or manager.

•Receive and record payments for medical treatment from patients.

•Record payment information on patient payment receipt and log this information on the appropriate forms.
