Job Description:

Duties :



* Ensure a safety culture across site


* Adhere to Greif UK HR processes and procedures


* Lead by example to the Greif Way


* Emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventative/predictive maintenance using the CMMS


* Assist in all aspects of maintenance tasks/duties in addition to identifying opportunities for improvement, and completing projects to improve efficiency and/or reduce costs


* Create shared owner value by continuously eliminating all waste from the processes


* Implementing and sustaining world-class house-keeping standards


* Maximise equipment efficiency for output whilst minimising scrap and waste – OEE


* Investigating all customer complaints ensuring that the root cause is identified and actions are tracked and completed to stop any re-occurrence


* Responsibility for all aspects of planning to ensure the On Time Delivery to all customers


* Ensuring right first time quality, reducing scrap and completing root cause analysis to ensure repeat failures are removed


* Maintain calibration records


* Conduct at least two Kaizen events per annum


* Adherence to the Greif UK Safety, Health and Environmental (S,H&E) Policy, in particular, section 2.1.2 (S,H&E committee members only), and 2.1.6 Employees


* Complete any other reasonable tasks or requests as required, in order to meet KPIs


* Using Progea and other systems, reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimise unplanned downtime, anticipate issues, solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement


* Ensure production overtime working is covered by maintenance personnel

Qualifications & Training:

Essential :

A good standard of education

A full recognised mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent

Desirable :

ONC/HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline

Experience & Skills Required:



* Lean manufacturing knowledge i.e.

Kanban, SMED, 5S etc


* Experience of working in a manufacturing environment that includes hydraulic, pneumatic and PLC controlled equipment


* Good IT system skills including Microsoft office packages

Personal Qualities:



* Excellent organisational, communication and small project management skills


* Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and own initiative


* Ability to lead and motivate fellow employees Personal attributes which include tenacity, resilience, a positive disposition, a “can-do” attitude, assertiveness and a high degree of determination to succeed.
