SW-Clinical Informatics Specialist, RA

Job Function Summary:

Involves the development and implementation of CEIP’s data modernization initiative, including information systems and data management practices applied to clinical information.

Works closely with CEIP, CDPH, and CDC to optimize effective use of systems and reporting tools.

Defines systems and applications to support various functions, and specializes in development and implementation of reporting pipelines and products such as dashboards and reports.

Employment is provided by Heluna Health.

Salary is $100,000.00 - $107,000.00 per year depending on experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


* Contributing to the development, implementation, and maintenance of CEIP’s data modernization initiative.


* Improving CEIP reporting pipelines and products by leveraging tools such as PowerBI, Shiny for R, R Markdown, and potentially Tableau.


* Facilitating aggregation, visualization, and dissemination of data related to testing, vital statistics, or hospitalizations for infectious disease conditions.


* Participating in complex data analysis, database design, and data quality assurance and quality improvement projects.


* Developing solutions to facilitate monitoring and access for reporting pipelines and products.


* Innovating new solutions to address stakeholder needs.

 

This position requires strong programming (SQL, R, Python, and/or SAS), reporting (PowerBi, Shiny for R, R Markdown, and/or Tableau), and/or informatics knowledge to support data analysis, database design, and data quality assurance and quality improvement projects.

The position will interact and collaborate with several multidisciplinary CDPH and CEIP teams as well as other internal and external partners as they contribute to CEIP’s data modernization.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education, Licenses and Certifications:


* Bachelor's degree in public health, health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training PLUS either 3 years of experience in computer or data pipeline programming and database management, OR 3 years working in public health, required.


* Master’s degree in computer science, informatics, public health, biostatistics, epidemiology or epidemiology and biostatistics and / or equivalent combination of experience / training PLUS either 1 year of experience in computer or data pipeline programming and database management, OR 1 year working in public health, preferred.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


* Strong skills associated with statistical analysis, database management and systems programming, including SQL, R, Python, and/or SAS.


* Strong skills associated with reporting, including PowerBi, Shiny for R, R Markdown, and/or Tableau.
