SW-Clinical Informatics Specialist, SIPU

SUMMARY

The California Emerging Infections Program (CEIP) is a program administered by Heluna Health.

CEIP functions under a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is a collaborative effort involving the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health, and several local health departments.

Under general direction from the Chief, Systems Integration and Pipelines, the Clinical Informatics Specialist will work within CDPH to modernize CEIP’s data systems and pipelines.

Employment is provided by Heluna Health.

 

Salary is $100,000.00 - $107,000.000 per year depending on experience.

Job Function Summary:

Involves the development and implementation of CEIP’s data modernization initiative, including information systems and data management practices applied to clinical information.

Works closely with CEIP, CPDH, and CDC to optimize effective use of systems.

Defines systems and applications to support various functions.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


* Contributing to the development, implementation, and maintenance of CEIP’s data modernization initiative.


* Improving interoperability of CEIP data systems and integrating these solutions with CDPH and CDC for the infectious diseases that are a part of CEIP’s active surveillance systems.


* Facilitation of electronic collection, storage, and transfer of data related to testing, vital statistics, or hospitalizations for infectious disease conditions.


* Participating in complex data analysis, database design, and data quality assurance and quality improvement projects.


* Development of solutions to facilitate monitoring and access for pipelines and data systems.


* Innovating new solutions to address stakeholder needs.


* Providing REDCap administration support

 

This position requires strong programming (R, SQL, and/or Python) and/or informatics knowledge to support data analysis, database design, and data quality assurance and quality improvement projects.

The position will interact and collaborate with several multidisciplinary CDPH and CEIP teams as well as other internal and external partners as they contribute to CEIP’s data modernization.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Licenses and Certifications:


* Bachelor's degree in public health, health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training PLUS either 3 years of experience in computer or data pipeline programming and database management, OR 3 years working in public health, required.


* Master’s degree in computer science, informatics, public health, biostatistics, epidemiology or epidemiology and biostatistics and / or equivalent combination of experience / training PLUS either 1 year of experience in computer or data pipeline program...
