Senior Project Manager – Utility Rate Consulting

Where would you step in?   
As a valuable leader of our Utility Rate Consulting service, you will support our clients throughout the northeast while sitting in any of our 17 offices.

We offer a hybrid remote work environment and flexible Fridays in the summer.

  

Our Team and Projects  
As part of our Utility Management Community of Practice, our Rate team provides comprehensive utility rate consulting services to help communities develop sustainable revenue sources to maintain a level of service and support infrastructure needs.

From small water districts to large city water, sewer, and stormwater systems, our goal is to work collaboratively with our clients and engage with stakeholders to develop rates that will support the needs of the system and the community.

  

What will you be doing?   
As a Senior Project Manager, you will engage with municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities, offering services like asset management support, rate design, and stormwater utility development.

You will lead communications within teams and with clients, manage multiple projects, and work independently or lead small to medium project teams.

You'll drive sales growth by creatively engaging clients and developing long-term relationships with a diverse range of utilities.

Senior Project Managers will help clients develop rate plans that are defensible and provide adequate revenue to meet their needs for investing in the critical infrastructure necessary to support public health and protect the environment – while considering levels of service and issues of equity and affordability.

With your industry expertise, you'll produce complex solutions, resolve technical issues, and manage client expectations.

You'll recommend resources, delegate tasks, assess risks, and meet business development targets.

  

What does a Senior Project Manager need?   
Substantial years of consulting engineering experience and increasing responsibility in the water, wastewater, or stormwater industry.

A BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Business, or a related field.

You will need an understanding of utility operations, project management experience working with utilities, and great technical and presentation skills.  Developed proficiency in asset management planning and using financial modeling to analyze and forecast public utilities' revenue and expenses.

Acquired specialization in conducting in-depth financial analysis of rate structures, pricing policies, and cost allocation methodologies.

Senior Project Managers are expected to be enthusiastic to learn, self-motivated, and have strong, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills.

You will need to have strong leadership ability and a desire to manage and mentor others.
