Mechanical Engineer
Job Summary Receive, read and interpret project write-ups and apply the appropriate engineering terms, methodology and clarifications, including schedule projections, manpower needs and material requirements.
Assure that all applicable industry and company compliance code requirements are met.
Prepare and create all necessary machinery drawings, plans or prints, including shop and supplier fabrication drawings, composite drawings or others, using established engineering practice considerations and usual company guidelines and processes.
Detail appropriate specifications for outsourced operations or equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Comply with Company and Departmental Directives and GuidelinesComplete project design on time and stay within estimated hours and material costsResearch and order parts on timeStart designing early to complete before production build datePull from existing applicable drawingsSupport the project through completionWork with Project Management department to clarify and meet customer needs and define scopeIdentify out of scope changes and feed back to Project management and sales for Change ordersProvide practical, functional and acceptable equipment designs Read and interpret specifications, write ups, pricing and correspondenceDiscuss unresolved engineering questions with Project management and Sales for clarification Make sure the design is what the customer is expectingReview other engineers drawing packages before production releaseProvide feedback to other engineers regarding necessary changesCheck drawings for accuracy of dimensions, parts, functionality and notes to explain details to production and weld informationCheck shop write up for accuracy and sequence of production flowPerform calculations and analysisUse spreadsheets, calculator and other software applications to perform calculations and analysisProvide assistance and training to detailers Answer questions and explain to detail engineers how to obtain the informationProvide technical assistance to production and testAnswer questions and provide support during productionAnswer questions and provide support during testingProvide technical assistance to salesProvide composite drawings during quoting stage when neededProvide General Arrangement Drawings as requiredAnswer questions and provide technical support for quotesProvide submittal and approval drawings when scheduledProvide Technical Support with technical specificationsCoordinate with electrical engineer regarding switchgear and cablingDiscuss design with electrical engineer for clarificationCreate conduit schedules and isometric views of conduit routings Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial engineering, Engineering Technology or Manufacturing engineering is highly desirable.
