Content and Instructional Designer

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Creates training or informational content for well-defined subjects on demand.

Works under limited supervision and has latitude in creativity in developing content to meet business needs.

Some positions may serve as a lead resource for other Content Designers

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


* Captures and edits photos and videos needed for training material.


* Leads and takes ownership of a program throughout its design and development life cycle.


* Collaborates with end users and subject matter experts to determine best way to meet training or performance support needs.


* Solicits feedback from all stakeholders to ensure training materials meet the needs of the end user and support business goals.


* Engages in peer and quality check reviews for other team members.


* Applies adult learning and instructional design principles to create efficient, effective, and engaging learning activities, course content, and job aids.


* Communicates complex topics in a way that is easy to understand.


* Designs illustrations, diagrams, animations, instructional hand-outs, infographics, presentations, and online courses.


* Reinforces and supports Altec's unique culture through all training material and communication.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Four-year degree highly desired or equivalent directly applicable experience on a year for year basis

OTHER POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:


* High proficiency in video editing software (Da Vinci Resolve, Premier Pro, Camtasia).


* Proficiency in software tools to design illustrations, diagrams, animations, instructional hand-outs, infographics, presentations, and online courses (with correct use of fonts, shapes, colors, and composition)(Adobe Suite - Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator).


* Experience creating courses using authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise) and uploading and maintaining courses on an LMS.


* Excellent written communication skills (job aids, effective copy, instructional text, audio/video scripts).


* Excellent verbal communication skills (one-on-one discussion, explanation, persuasion, presentation).


* Travel of up to approximately 10% may be required.

Experience Level Adjustmnt

Should the selected candidate meet the qualifications of a more experienced level in the career path, the job level may be adjusted.
