Deputy Director of Programs and Operations

The County of Riverside's Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Director of Programs and Operations to join its leadership team in Riverside.

This executive-level position is responsible for overseeing program and operational functions across all DCSS branch locations and providing direct leadership to Regional Managers.

The Deputy Director will manage day-to-day departmental operations, ensure compliance with departmental, County, and State requirements, and oversee budget and staffing requests based on organizational needs.

This role is central to the department's leadership and will involve the hiring process, performance evaluations of direct reports, and decisions related to employee discipline.

The incumbent will regularly attend executive leadership meetings, department head meetings, and State DCSS meetings, both virtually and in person.

Some travel is required to visit branch offices and provide operational oversight and support across all locations.

In addition, the Deputy Director will provide on-site coverage for the executive team as needed and serve as a key contributor in strategic planning initiatives, organizational changes, and departmental improvement efforts.

This role will also mentor newly appointed Regional Managers by offering guidance, leadership support, and operational direction to ensure successful performance in their roles.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the confidence to address complex and sensitive issues effectively.

Success in this role requires the ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment, and lead with professionalism and integrity.

Experience developing reports and presentations using tools such as Microsoft Excel and SharePoint is highly desirable.

Strong leadership skills, including the ability to provide direction, mentorship, and support to management staff, are essential.
