Transportation Director

What We're Looking For:

The Transportation Director will oversee the daily management and operations of the department.

This role involves leading a team of engineers and designers in the design and plan preparation for a variety of transportation improvement projects for both public and private clients in the Columbus, OH area.

Projects may include highways, roadways, bridges, traffic systems, transit, aviation, and more.

The Director will also focus on the department's growth and development, as well as maintaining positive client relationships.

What You'll Do:


* Lead, assign, and review the work of the project delivery team, providing technical guidance and oversight for transportation project designs.


* Oversee department projects to ensure they meet agreed-upon scope, budget, and schedule.


* Ensure department compliance with quality management and quality assurance practices.


* Coach, develop, and mentor staff, attracting and retaining highly talented transportation professionals.


* Coordinate business development activities to support overall growth objectives, including project pursuits, client outreach, marketing, teaming arrangements, capture planning, proposal development and review, and interview preparation and delivery.


* Lead strategic planning and build relationships with key client decision-makers, staying ahead of upcoming project advertisements and changes within client organizations.


* Be an active and visible member of the Columbus, OH transportation community through professional organization involvement.


* Maintain and enhance existing client relationships, generate additional opportunities with current clients, and develop new clients.

Monitor client satisfaction both internally and externally.


* Coordinate with Great Lakes Region transportation leadership on resource planning, business development, and project execution.


* Serve as a project manager on multi-discipline transportation design projects.


* Monitor and control the department's annual operating budget.

What You Need to Succeed:


* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's Degree is a plus).


* Ohio Professional Engineer's (PE) license.


* 15+ years of transportation design experience with increasing levels of responsibility.


* Experience with ODOT is highly desired and Design-Build project experience is a plus....
