Technician, EHS
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Program development and compliance
Build and maintain site EHS programs aligned with Coherent standards and legal requirements
Review procedures, records, and practices for compliance and effectiveness
Training
Develop training plans and materials for all EHS programs
Coordinate and deliver instructor-led and on-the-job training
Inspections and audits
Conduct routine inspections and assessments; document findings and corrective actions
Coordinate and host audits by internal teams and external authorities
Regulatory interface
Interact with OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, DSHS, and municipal authorities
Prepare and maintain audit and inspection documentation; support responses and follow-up
Metrics and improvement
Define leading and lagging EHS metrics
Track goals, analyze trends, and recommend improvements
Other duties
Perform hazard analyses including JHA, THA, and PSM related evaluations
Support proper handling, storage, and shipment of waste
Participate in community, company, and quality system activities as assigned
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills
* Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, DSHS, and municipal regulations
* Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.
* Work effectively with other members of Coherent Corp.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
* Strong communication, facilitation, and analytical skills
* Ability to design and deliver engaging EHS training
Working Conditions
* Work is performed primarily in an office setting within a manufacturing facility.
* Regular interaction with production, maintenance, and operations personnel.
* Exposure to moderate noise levels typical of a manufacturing plant when visiting production areas.
* Periodic walking through manufacturing areas may require adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Standard office equipment used, including computers, phones, printers, and copiers.
Physical Requirements
Sit for up to 8 hours at a time
Lift and pull up to 50 pounds as needed
Wear required PPE such as safety glasses and masks
Respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis as needed
Safety Requirements
All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
Corporate EHS standards.
Quality and Environmental Responsibilities
Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
