Senior Design Engineer

As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design and integration of Medium Voltage (MV) air & gas insulated switchgear.

You'll participates in cross functional teams to define requirements, analyze feasibility, and propose solutions that meet customer needs.

This engineer helps conduct system analysis to resolve tradeoffs and drives integration of system engineering tools and processes across platforms to optimize performance.

Manages resolution of system compatibility and performance issues.

• Responsible for the design of Medium Voltage air and gas insulated switchgear

• Accountable for investigating and procuring all data required to develop complex designs.

• Prepares sketches and/or schematic diagrams.

• Works independently, exercises latitude and judgment to develop designs with minimal supervision

• Prepares accurate layout, detail and assembly drawings.

• Perform mechanical analysis of mechanisms (tolerance, stress, deformation, kinematic)

• Become adept in Lean Agile practices and team processes

• Work in a diverse team environment, as well as independently

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Master's Degree preferred)

• Minimum 5 years of product development experience (for Bachelor's degree; less experienced considered with advanced degree).

• Direct product design experience related to ANSI/IEEE Medium Voltage air and gas insulated Switchgear.

• Fulfills technical missions, with autonomy to propose/develop complex solutions in Medium Voltage air and gas insulated switchgear.

May have hierarchical or functional responsibilities.

May provide mentoring, instructions/assistance.

• If needed, manages the execution of verification & validation in laboratories and provides the analysis of results & reports to internal customers.

• Lead interface with manufacturing and quality organizations to ensure that a well-optimized and sustainable component/assembly is developed from fabrication/assembly concerns (Tolerance Analysis).

• Helps establish internal procedures and best practices.
