Guardian Glass has an opening for a Plant Project Engineer with a solid background in electrical power systems and controls at our Float Glass facility located in Carleton, Michigan.

The Electrical Project Engineer provides technical expertise and project engineering as required to support Plant projects and operations.

The position will be responsible for the development, design, procurement, construction, and start-up of various projects in an industrial environment.

This engineer will have a direct impact on safety, reliability, quality, cost, and process improvement at our facility.

What You Will Do



* Lead projects in an industrial environment - estimating, set budgets, create timelines, assign action items, meet project deliverables.


* Specify equipment and scope of work, solicit and evaluate proposals.


* Document activities and maintain project reporting.


* Take ownership of all power distribution systems.


* Lead electrical safety and energy control program within the facility.


* interpreting and applying NFPA and OSHA requirements pertaining to electrical safety-related work practices.


* Maintain the arc flash safety program.


* Recognize potential safety hazards and observe all health and safety guidelines.


* Support technicians, process engineers and operations with field issues.


* Interact with all levels of facility operations, maintenance, process control, quality, safety and environmental compliance.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


* Bachelor's degree in engineering or 10+ years relevant experience in Electrical Power and Controls engineering.


* 2+ years of experience leading projects in an industrial environment.


* Design of grounding, lighting, power distribution and motor control systems for industrial applications.

What Will Put You Ahead



* Experience troubleshooting and repair 3-phase industrial power distribution systems up to 15,000V.


* Experience with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs and VFDs - to include programming, commissioning and troubleshooting.


* Relevant experience in project management.
