ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Operation Manager is responsible for managing a team of supervisors and their direct reports.

  This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of manufacturing plant both production and maintenance.

Duties include delivering on production schedules, meeting or exceeding productivity goals, maintenance and monitoring processes to ensure efficiency and compliance in the manufacturing process. 

Key Responsibilities


* Planning, organizing, directing, and running optimum day-to-day operations.


* Managing production, assets capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards.


* Ensuring production output, product quality, and on-time shipping


* Allocating resources effectively


* Collecting and analyzing data to find areas of waste and overtime.


* Committing to plant safety and quality procedures.


* Maintaining systems and processes that track and optimize productivity - OEE


* Keeping up to date with the latest production management best practices


* Maintaining lean manufacturing processes.


* Implementing strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives


* Monitoring operations, initiating, and driving corrective actions when needed


* Managing human capital - Overseeing work schedules to ensure coverage.


* Providing a clear sense of direction and focus to team members.


* Facilitating the planning: Developing maintenance procedures, schedules, and policies


* Managing: Supervising maintenance staff and contractors, and ensuring they have the resources to complete their tasks


* Key performance measures:  Safety TRIR & DART; CSI – Customer Service Index; OEE – Overall Equipment Effectiveness; Financial performance to budget.


* Other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience


* Typically possesses a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 10 or more years of relevant experience.

Knowledge and Skills


* Post-secondary degree in Engineering.


* At least 10 years of experience in high speed; plastics manufacturing in an operational role.  Blow Molding experience would be a significant plus.


* Skilled expertise in troubleshooting blow molding equipment


* Excellent knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, and PLC troubleshooting abilities.
