Georgia-Pacific has an immediate opening for a Safety Manager at our Warrenton, Georgia Lumber facility.

The Safety Manager will provide safety leadership and strategic direction to the facility, applying the Principle Based Management™ Framework and Our Values.

This role is crucial in creating real value for the organization by proactively identifying and mitigating risks.

You will develop and align facility safety strategies with the company's and division's safety vision and objectives.

By driving safety excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through effective, sustainable management systems, you will ensure that leaders and employees are well-trained and equipped to manage safety.

The Safety Manager reports directly to the Facility Manager and maintains a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Division Safety Manager.

Our Team

Our Warrenton facility is a new state-of-the art lumber mill that opened in the Fall of 2019.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high efficiency and technologically advanced lumber mill.

GP Warrenton produces Southern Pine dimension lumber, the workhorse of the building industry.

It is an affordable, strong, durable softwood that is excellent for pressure treating, light frame construction, general utility framing, studs, pallets, crafting, and floor and roof trusses.

Warrenton is approximately 45 miles West of Augusta, GA and 110 miles East of Atlanta, GA.

What You Will Do



* Provide leadership and direction in establishing and achieving a meaningful safety vision and effective strategies through management commitment and employee ownership


* Lead the development and use of risk assessment methods/systems for anticipating, identifying, and evaluating hazards.

Drive and assist with the mitigation of identified gaps, weaknesses, and improvement opportunities


* Actively manage all aspects of compliance (e.g., OSHA, company standards).

Ensure ownership resides with the appropriate roles within the organization


* Ensure facility risk profile is addressed through development/implementation of key controls.


* Recommend and facilitate engineering/design changes to eliminate or reduce risk (e.g., machine guarding, ergonomics, traffic, fire/explosion, noise, upset conditions)


* Drive flawless execution, assessment, and improvement of critical safe work practices


* Support all phases of capital and major expense projects to ensure safe execution (e.g., design review, contractor selection/orientation/auditing, work plans/permits, pre-startup review)


* Identify safety development and training needs
