Director of Nursing

Summary

The Director of Nursing Services (DON) is responsible for leading the Assisted Living Care Department at Park Place, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and exceptional customer service.

The DON is instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining the care department’s philosophy and objectives, fostering a culture of compliance, compassion, and excellence.

This role requires strategic leadership, compliance with state and federal regulations, and fostering a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Minimum Qualifications


* Licensure: Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the State of Washington.


* Experience: Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in long-term care, demonstrating leadership and management capabilities.


* Knowledge: Familiarity with state and federal long-term care regulations, budget management, and staff development.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership and Management
1.

Strategic Oversight: Lead and manage the care/nursing department, ensuring that all staff members provide high-quality care aligned with Park Place and RHF standards.
2.

Staff Management: Ensure adequate staffing at all times, including recruitment, training, supervision, and performance evaluations.

Hire and recommend terminations when necessary, following RHF’s disciplinary procedures.
3.

Service Plans: Ensure that resident service plans are individualized and updated regularly to meet each resident's specific needs.

Coordinate with staff to ensure service plan criteria are met.

Compliance and Quality Assurance
1.

Regulatory Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, all state and federal regulations, including HUD and DSHS guidelines.
2.

Documentation: Ensure that nursing care documentation is accurate, timely, and reflects the care provided.

Perform monthly audits of medication administration records, service plans, medication storage, and other critical areas.
3.

Incident Management: Review and assess incident reports, ensuring appropriate actions are taken, reports are closed timely, and any issues are addressed through measurable recommendations.

Serve as the focal point for mandated reporting procedures.

Resident Care and Assessments
1.

Resident Assessments: Oversee or conduct all resident assessments, ensuring timely evaluation and development of care plans.

Coordinate care conferences to discuss significant changes in residents' conditions and determine appropriate placement when needed.
2.

Infection Control: Implement and maintain infection control programs, monitoring facility-wide infections for appropriate treatment.

Report any reportable infections to the Department of Health and ensure compliance with vaccination requirements for residents and staff.
