ABOUT THE POSITION

Riverside County TLMA Aviation Department is seeking an Airport and Operations Maintenance Worker I/II to for the Hemet location.

The Airport and Operations Maintenance Worker I/II performs a wide variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in maintenance and construction of airport facilities; performs other related duties as required.

Based out of Hemet the position will drive to and from and support both the Hemet-Ryan Airport and French Valley Airport in Murrieta/Temecula.

A County vehicle will be provided for travel.

Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker I is the entry-level classification may be eligible to promote within one year to the Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker II level after acquiring the necessary experience and training and receiving a satisfactory performance evaluation.

The level at which the position will be filled is at the Department's discretion and is based on candidate qualifications.

Competitive candidates will have experience in general construction, landscaping, electrical work, HVAC maintenance, plumbing, or carpentry.

Candidates that have small equipment operation skilled in the use of various hand tools, power tools, and machinery commonly used in maintenance or construction and those with experience in an airport or government setting are highly preferred.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Maintain and repair buildings and equipment, which includes routine painting, carpentry and electrical work.

• Maintain schematic drawings of improvements.

• Operate heavy equipment to repair asphalt runways, taxiways and parking areas; form, pour and finish concrete for pads and other areas.

• Perform maintenance and repair work including spraying weeds and clearing brush.

• Operate paint striping and traffic marking equipment to distinguish standard airport markings, vehicle parking stalls, curbs, and other various traffic warning and control indications.

• Install, repair or replace runway and other light fixtures; check and maintain power-controlled security gates; repair broken water mains and install pipes and related plumbing work.
