DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is seeking Fire Protection Engineering Interns to join our team in our Moon Township, PA (Pittsburgh) office and/or our Denver, CO office.

The Fire Protection team if part of a full-service Architectural and Engineering team.

Projects include all aspects of fire protection engineering design from 'cradle to grave'.

This includes of proposal preparation, complete system design, site evaluations, and testing and commissioning of systems.

Typical projects and types of systems include: fire sprinklers, fire pumps, high expansion foam, clean agent systems, fire alarm and mass notification systems.

Typical buildings and facilities include: office buildings, storage and warehouses, aircraft hangars, and maintenance facilities.

Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to, the following activities:


* Complete fire protection system designs for sprinkler, fire pump, fire alarm and mass notification systems


* Assist senior staff with project completion


* Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler and fire pump design


* Analyze life safety requirements for buildings, including building code compliance, occupant load calculations and egress analysis


* Perform on-site system evaluations and assist with final system testing


* Summarize submittals and contractor Requests for Information for review


* Coordinate designs with other engineering disciplines

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS


* Sophomore, Junior or Senior year pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
