Senior Network Engineer

Description & Requirements

This position is the Senior Network Engineer for a contract supporting a Federal research and health agency.

As a member of a team, this position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of network or telecommunications components to drive network efficiency and availability.

Maintain network quality standards to achieve optimal levels of operation and service level agreement (SLA)/KPI targets.

Tracks and monitors network traffic and performance to ensure minimal interruption to network transmission and/or network switches.

Corrects network problems effectively and in a timely manner.

Drive initiatives, industrialization and efficiencies to network facilities for improvements (i.e., enhancements, updates, upgrades, and new systems).

Establish tools and procedures to monitor network performance.

Minimum Requirements:



* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance


* University degree (BA/BS) in a closely related field (Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology)


* 7+ years demonstrated experience as a network engineer, architect, or telecommunications engineer

Preferred Skills and Abilities



* Demonstrated experience supporting an enterprise network leveraging Cisco products including: Layer 3 routing, Layer 2 switching, Identity Services, firepower threat detection, stealthwatch, telemetry broker, and related technologies


* Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Cisco Certified Network Practitioner (CCNP) certifications strongly desired


* Previous experience supporting federal health and research agencies like HHS and/or NIH


* Familiarity and experienced with enterprise IT functions including data center networking, server administration, storage, and cybersecurity preferred
