Minimum Requirements:


* Education: Graduate of an Echocardiography Technology program, Ultrasound Technology program, or Cardiovascular Technology program


* Licensure: Current registration and licensure by;
+ American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or;
+ Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or;
+ Certificate from accredited Echocardiography program


* Certification: American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification

Key Responsibilities:


*  
+ Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes.
+ Selects the most appropriate and cost-effective action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient’s abilities and condition.
+ Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to patients’ size and condition, depth of field, and other specifications of exam.
+ Coordinates and participates in a variety of duties involved in the operation of echocardiography equipment to obtain and record two-dimensional and M-mode presentation of the heart utilizing high frequency sound waves to assist the physician in diagnosis
+ Documents patient and exam occurrences in PACS/RIS to include exam start complete time
+ Able to recognize significant clinical information and historical facts from the patient and from the medical record which may impact the examination
+ Observes patient and equipment during procedures, documents patient reactions or problems on requisitions and reports immediately to supervisor.
+ Under the general supervision, in cooperation with the physicians and nursing personnel, assists in the detection and localization of patient anatomy utilizing proper positioning and establishment of appropriate technical factors and sterile technique 
+ Monitor and records ECG waveforms 
+ Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity
+ Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines
+ Rotates in on-call schedule
