Atria Health has a partnership with Tennessee Heart, a leading cardiology practice in the Cookeville, TN area.

The Cookeville center offers state-of-the-art technology and quality service to patients at a location which is convenient and cost efficient.

It includes a PET/CT nuclear imaging program to quickly and accurately identify patients who are at-risk of life-threatening conditions (e.g., heart attacks) without requiring inpatient catheterization procedures.

Job Summary: This position supports the PET/CT suite by preparing patients for cardiac PET/CT imaging, reviewing pre-test compliance, performing IV insertions, EKGs and cardiac monitoring during rest and stress studies, assessing patient wellbeing, and recording medical history and vital signs.

The candidate will also need to effectively communicate with doctors, registered nurses, and nuclear medicine technologists and manage patient care according to their needs.

Required Skills/Abilities: Escorts patients to the designated PET Suite from the lobby.

Verifies patient DOB and demographic information.

Takes patients' vitals, height, weight, blood pressure, pulse oxygen.

Inserts and maintains peripheral IV access for radiotracer and pharmacologic stress agent administration during PET/CT testing.

Performs 12-lead EKGs and places electrodes for continuous cardiac monitoring before, during, and after PET/CT stress testing.

Recognizes and promptly reports arrhythmias and EKG changes to the supervising physician or nurse.

Assists with patient positioning and transfers on and off the PET/CT camera.

Treats patients in a polite and attentive manner.

Records patient information completely, accurately, and in a timely manner.

Informs and updates patients regarding delays in workflow.

Pulls necessary consent forms as needed.

Maintains current BLS certification.

Maintains, cleans, and prepares exam rooms for each patient.

Assists with inventory management of the supplies required for the PET tests.

Assists the supervising physician, nurse, and technologist during pharmacologic stress testing and responds to adverse reactions.

May occasionally support stress testing in the adjacent echocardiography department as a backup when time allows.

Proficient with Electronic Medical Records (Veradigm/Altera/PICOM preferred.

Education and Experience: Current Tennessee EMT certification or national EKG Technician certification (e.g., CET or CCT) IV/venipuncture certification or documented competency required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
