Georgia-Pacific is now hiring a Procurement Forester to support our chip mill in Elba, AL! The position will be based in South Alabama in the area where the Elba chip mill is located and will report to the Wood & Fiber Supply Group Manager at Brewton pulp mill.

This position will be responsible for working with suppliers, loggers, and landowners to acquire Hardwood for Elba chip mill, with additional responsibilities supporting nearby Georgia-Pacific operations.

This position also coordinates with chip mill operations and logistics teams to manage receiving and shipping of fiber products.

Our Team

Georgia-Pacific's Wood and Fiber Supply (W&FS) organization ensures that the company's mills have a reliable supply of logs, wood fiber, and chips to sustain its tissue, packaging, paper, and building products manufacturing operations.

W&FS operates in approximately 15 U.S.

states and sources its wood from private lands owned by industrial, institutional, and individual landowners.

What You Will Do


* Implementing sourcing and pricing strategies pertaining to the procurement of wood and fiber for the Georgia Pacific manufacturing facilities.


* Evaluating wood purchasing opportunities using analytical and innovative problem-solving skills


* Working to build strong business relationships within operating areas


* Assisting in driving process improvements and presenting innovative solutions to recurring issues


* Ensuring all transactions are properly documented and distributed


* Working in conjunction with W&FS team to monitor and manage all levels of raw material acquisition to include: Administrative, Capital Employed, Transportation, inventory and Wood Cost


* Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures • Actively representing Wood & Fiber Supply and the facility operations on local and regional sourcing initiatives

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


* Experience working in a purchasing, procurement or supply chain position in a manufacturing environment


* Working knowledge and experience with MS Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook

What Will Put You Ahead


* More than 8 years of Procurement Experience


* Advanced degree: MBA, MFR, or similar degree
