Automation Engineer

Job Requirements

Join our team now at Siemens Healthineers as an Automation Engineer within the Point of Care Diagnostics business line.

Our facility at Sudbury is a global leading manufacturer in the assembly of specialist instrumentation for laboratories and hospitals across the world for Urinalysis, Diabetes, and Blood Gas analytics.

As an Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and developing the site's automation, controls and Operational Technology capability.

The role will provide onsite technical ownership for PLC, SCADA, server, remote-access and equipment-connectivity systems, helping to reduce single-point-of-failure risk, improve resilience and support reliable production.

You will also enable data-driven decision making by developing equipment connectivity solutions, capturing real-time data and creating automated solutions for efficient data analysis and process control.

You will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Engineering, IT and external suppliers to improve efficiency, productivity, compliance, cybersecurity and reliability.

Work Experience


* Proven experience in Automation Engineering, preferably in a medical device manufacturing or regulated industry.


* Proficiency in programming languages such as PLC programming, HMI development, Microsoft's Power Platform and SQL Server.


* Strong knowledge of automation systems, including networking, robotics, motion control, vision systems, and data acquisition.


* Experience supporting or coordinating OT cybersecurity, vulnerability remediation, remote access governance and supplier-controlled automation systems.


* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.


* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.


* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.


* Degree in Computer Science or Engineering related field or equivalent experience.
