Senior Tooling Design Engineer

Job Summary

We're looking for a Senior Tooling Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of tooling solutions that support the manufacture and repair of aerospace components.

In this role, you will own tooling projects from concept through production, applying expertise in CAD/CAM, reverse engineering, CNC manufacturing, and design for manufacturability to improve processes, support operations, and deliver innovative tooling solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing


* Design, develop, and implement tooling and manufacturing solutions that support aerospace component production and repair.


* Own technical aspects of tooling projects from initial concept through manufacturing and production support.


* Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using NX.


* Develop, validate, and support CNC programs used in tooling development and fabrication.


* Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to deliver tooling solutions that meet customer and business requirements.


* Perform reverse engineering activities using dimensional inspection, 3D scanning, and other measurement technologies.


* Apply Design for Manufacturability principles to improve tooling performance, usability, and efficiency.


* Evaluate tooling costs, support project planning activities, and manage project schedules.


* Support manufacturing operations through troubleshooting, process improvements, and technical problem solving.


* Review engineering work, provide technical guidance, and mentor less experienced engineers.


* Present technical findings, project updates, and tooling solutions to internal and external stakeholders.

 

What We’re Looking For


* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent engineering experience.


* 5+ years of experience in manufacturing design, tooling development, and reverse engineering.


* Strong CAD/CAM experience, preferably with NX.


* Experience supporting CNC manufacturing processes and CAM programming.


* Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.


* Experience using measurement technologies such as CMMs, optical scanning systems, and precision gaging.


* Strong understanding of 3D modeling, drawing creation, and tooling design principles.
