Production Engineer

BASIC FUNCTION The Production Engineering role oversees operation of Bay 1, Bay 2 or Bay 3 unit at Baystar - Bayport Polymers.

The Production Engineer acts as a technical resource for operations personnel, applies technical skills to optimize plant operations, to implement and commission yield improvement and cost saving projects, participates in procedure reviews and development, operator training, and site qualification efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Understanding and learning how equipment associated to the campaign operates • Understanding and working with plant utilities • Working with the Operations Superintendent, Operations Manager, & Operations Director, to provide data and chemical engineering support for specific product campaigns • Working closely with Technical & Quality personnel to optimize operations and meet plant goals • Ensure all product specifications are met • Overseeing the processes, ensuring quality work is done in a safe, efficient manner • Liaising with other engineers to develop plans that improve production, costs, and labor required • Diagnosing problems in the production process and providing recommendations and training • Establishing safety procedures and protocols that take the operations personnel well-being into account • Keeping abreast of advancements in engineering and production, and sharing knowledge • Identifying, documenting, and reporting unsafe practices • Drawing up production schedules and budgets for projects • Scheduling meetings with relevant departments and stakeholders • Analyzing all facets of production and making recommendations for improvement • Obtaining any materials and equipment required • Investigate problems, analyze root causes and drive solutions • Diagnosing and document root causes of deviations in the unit and improve operating discipline • Responding to urgent unit issues and emergencies.

Act as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drive implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions • Stay current with product specifications, engineering technology and production processes • Awareness of potential environmental impacts in your area of responsibility and consequences if an upset occurs • Completing various administrative tasks • Other duties as assigned CORE VALUES Must exhibit and demonstrate our 4 Core Values ?
