The Role: Lead Report Developer / Lead BI Developer

We are actively recruiting a Lead Report Developer for our GSC Data & Analytics BI team, to set the technical direction, standards and architecture behind our enterprise reporting and analytics capability.

About GSC Data & Analytics BI

The BI team delivers the reporting, analytics and data products that leaders use to run the business.

We work on cloud data platforms and modern BI tooling, and we partner directly with business teams to turn data into decisions.

Roles and Responsibilities


* Serves as the technical leader for BI and reporting solutions, owning design, standards and delivery quality across the portfolio.


* Sets the reporting architecture: data models, semantic layers, certified datasets, naming and calculation standards.


* Reviews and approves solution designs before build, and runs code reviews before release.


* Owns report performance, scalability, security and access governance across Tableau Server / Cloud.


* Translates complex or ambiguous business requirements into scalable technical solutions, and pushes back where a report is not the right answer.


* Balances workload across the team, sequences work against business priority, and flags capacity risks early.


* Mentors Senior and junior developers, and builds the team's skills in cloud platforms and analytics engineering.


* Partners with Data Engineering, IT and business leaders on the longer-term reporting roadmap.


* Ensures compliance with governance, audit, documentation and data quality standards.

Technical Requirements


* Minimum 8 years hands-on experience in BI, reporting or data warehousing, including 2+ years leading a technical team


* Expert SQL, including performance tuning of large and complex workloads


* Expert data modeling, dimensional design and data warehousing


* Advanced Tableau: development, server administration concepts, governance and optimisation


* Experience designing and governing ETL / ELT pipelines


* Experience with cloud analytics platforms - AWS (S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis), Databricks, Snowflake, Azure or Microsoft Fabric


* Python for automation, data processing and analytics engineering


* Experience with Agile delivery, release management and BI governance frameworks


* Strong stakeholder management: able to advise senior business leaders and say no with a reason
