Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Quality Assurance / Quality Control Intern to support the Equipment QA/QC Program within Process Design at our Alabama River Cellulose mill in Perdue Hill, AL.

This is a hands-on, documentation-focused role works alongside engineers who verify that capital equipment is designed, fabricated, inspected, and commissioned to specification.

You will help maintain inspection records, track nonconformances, review vendor documentation, and prepare quality records that follow equipment from purchase order through site acceptance.

This internship offers defined project ownership and tangible deliverables that can become part of your professional portfolio.

Occasional travel to manufacturing and vendor sites is required.

Our Team

The Equipment QA/QC Program is part of Process Design within Georgia-Pacific's Investment Process Engineering & Design organization.

The team partners with project engineers, procurement, vendors, and Quality subject matter experts to help ensure equipment and supporting documentation meet applicable codes, corporate engineering standards, purchase order requirements, and project specifications.

You will receive day-to-day direction from an assigned supervising engineer and structured feedback during the internship term.

What You Will Do



* Assemble and maintain equipment quality record packages, including inspection and test plans, material certifications, weld and coating records, and factory acceptance test results


* Participate in equipment inspections and factory or site acceptance testing under the supervision of a QA/QC engineer; record observations and photographs against applicable checklists


* Log nonconformances and punch-list items, route them to the responsible engineer or vendor, and track them to closure


* Compare vendor documentation with specifications and purchase order requirements and flag gaps before documents reach the field


* Compile inspection and nonconformance data into trend summaries by vendor, equipment type, or project phase


* Support root cause reviews by gathering records, timelines, and correspondence


* Recommend and help implement improvements to quality checklists, templates, and file structures


* Draft factual inspection notes and status updates; attend project and vendor coordination meetings; capture and follow up on action items


* Check pressure-vessel documentation against applicable ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1 requirements


* Verify that material, welding, welder qualification, nondestructive examination, testing, nameplate, and registration records align with purchased design conditions and applicable requirements


* Work with Quality subject matter experts to review and update Georgia-Pacific equipment and quality specifications, consolidate reviewer comments, and maintain revision histories
