Maintenance Worker II

Purpose of Position The purpose of this position is to perform public works maintenance and construction tasks for City streets, parks, structures, property, and buildings.

The work is performed under the supervision of the Crew Leader.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Executes preventative maintenance schedules to extend the lifespan of building systems and reduce unexpected downtime.Resolves complex plumbing issues, including pipe repairs, fixture replacements, and leak detections, to maintain sanitary facility standards.Conducts electrical troubleshooting to diagnose circuit failures, repair wiring, and ensure safe power distribution throughout the facility.Performs carpentry tasks such as building custom fixtures, repairing structural wood elements, and hanging doors.Maintains and services HVAC systems to optimize indoor air quality and temperature control across all zones.Utilizes various hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete diverse construction and repair projects.Executes painting and drywall repair to keep interior and exterior surfaces visually appealing and structurally sound.Manages daily tasks through work order management software, prioritizing urgent tickets and documenting completed repairs accurately.Adheres to all Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) guidelines, maintaining a hazard-free workspace and using appropriate protective gear.Completes equipment repair on specialized machinery and facility assets to ensure continuous operational readiness.

Required Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent general education degree Experience One to five years of hands-on experience in general building maintenance or commercial facility repair.Proven track record of independently managing work orders and executing preventive maintenance programs.

Knowledge/Skills Strong understanding of local building codes and OSHA safety standards.Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members, vendors, and department heads.

Preferred Qualification.

Technical certification or vocational training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades preferred.

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions Lifts and carries heavy tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.Stands, bends, kneels, and reaches for extended periods during repairs.Works in various environments, including confined spaces, heights, and outdoor weather conditions.
