AHEC High School to Health Care Program Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Development and Implementation Design and launch career pathway (pipeline) programs that align with local health care industry needs, school district goals, and workforce development strategies.

These programs support and expand on current efforts of the statewide and regional AHEC program.

Curriculum and Training Develop or adapt curricula, clinical rotations, and hands-on training opportunities in health care settings such as hospitals, clinics, and community health centers.

Curricula and training will be developed based upon student interest and regional workforce needs.

Partnerships Build and maintain relationships with high schools, institutions of higher learning, health care providers, community organizations, and industry partners to expand program reach and resources.

Partner feedback and support will guide program development.

Student Engagement Coordinate student participation, mentorship, career exploration activities, clinical placements, and other programs to increase awareness and interest in health care careers.

Student interest will be a consideration in program development.

Performance Monitoring Track program outcomes, student engagement, and placement rates; use data to refine and improve programs.

Develop and implement strategies and materials for sharing assessment findings with stakeholders and collaborators.

Budget and Resources Coordinate with Executive Director to manage program budget, secure funding, and allocate resources effectively to support activities and partnerships.

Compliance and Standards Ensure programs meet educational, health care, and labor standards, including safety and confidentiality requirements.

Reporting and Communications Collect, analyze, interpret and prepare report data on programmatic impact, in collaboration with the Michigan Area Health Education Center.

Prepare reports for stakeholders, including school administrators, health care leaders, and funding agencies, highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations.

Professional Development Provide leadership and guidance to staff, volunteers, and student leaders involved in the programs.

Trend Awareness Stay current on health care industry trends, workforce demands, and policy changes to keep programs relevant and effective.
