Job Description:

R&D Engineering Co-op - Trauma

DePuy Synthes, a global leader in orthopaedic technologies and solutions, is recruiting for a Research and Development Engineering Co-op, January 2027, located in West Chester, PA.

This is a full-time six-month position which provides a student valuable work experience in lieu of a typical college semester.
You will gain the skills to advance one or more projects in the Extremity, Thoracic, and/or Craniomaxillofacial anatomy regions.

Key Responsibilities:


* You will use Creo to design surgical implants and instruments.


* You will draft protocols and design fixtures for development tests and interpret the results, proposing design changes where appropriate.


* You will support a variety of verification activities including, but not limited to, drawing reviews, tolerance stack analyses, mechanical testing, and finite element analyses.


* You will complete design risk assessments, actively proposing solutions to eliminate and/or minimize their occurrence potentials.


* You will have the opportunity to support end user assessments including participation in cadaver labs.

Qualifications

Education:


* Qualified candidates must be a current undergraduate college student in an accredited engineering program.


* Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Biomedical Engineering (Mechanical Design Emphasis).

Experience and Skills:
Required:


* Highly motivated and can work independently on one or multiple projects under general direction


* Interest in medical device/orthopedic fields.


* "Hands-on" engineering student w/ability to think creatively.
