Benefits Specialist

Purpose of the role In this role, you will support day-to-day operations of group benefits programs and help ensure compliance with applicable government regulations.

You must have excellent customer service and experience administering employee benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, enrollment changes, and reviewing, auditing, and approving benefit invoices for payment.

Provide professional Human Resources support in a consultative role by phone, email, and in person to ensure the needs of employees and management are effectively addressed.

Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records and ensure records are updated in a timely manner.

Assist in administering various Human Resources plans, programs, policies, and procedures.

Administer employee benefit programs and serve as a resource for employees regarding benefit questions, eligibility, enrollment, and coverage.

Work closely with the HR Director and other members of the Human Resources team to support departmental objectives and share best practices.

Maintain accurate HRIS records and compile reports and information from the HRIS database as needed.

Communicate benefit updates, plan changes, enrollment information, and other benefit-related information to managers and employees.

Coordinate, conduct, and approve annual Open Enrollment activities, including reviewing employee elections for accuracy and completeness.

Assist employees with Evidence of Insurability requirements and communicate necessary documentation and deadlines.

Maintain confidentiality of employee, medical, benefits, compensation, and other sensitive Human Resources information.

Assist the HR Director with additional Human Resources projects, reporting, audits, and administrative responsibilities as needed.

Education and Experience Minimum of two years of Human Resources experience, preferably with experience administering employee benefits.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.Experience working with HRIS and employee benefits databases.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and other commonly used formulas and functions.
