Maintenance Worker (No Certification )

POSITION SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the DPW Foreman, DPW Supervisor, and Director of Public Works, the Department of Public Works Service Worker performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, construction, groundskeeping, water distribution, equipment operation, and facility maintenance duties for the Township.

The position supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of Township infrastructure, facilities, parks, grounds, vehicles, and equipment.

Work may be performed independently or as part of a crew and requires the employee to exercise sound judgment, initiative, dependability, and appropriate customer service when interacting with residents, businesses, contractors, Township officials, and other employees.

The employee may be required to respond to emergencies and participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TYPICAL DUTIES The following duties are representative of the work performed by employees in this position.

Water Distribution System Assist with tapping water mains for new service installations.Install, maintain, repair, and replace water service lines, curb stops, curb boxes, water meters, and radio-read units.Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the Township's water distribution system.Repair water mains and related water distribution infrastructure.Repair and replace fire hydrants, curb stops, curb boxes, water meters, and radio-read units.Test water meters for accuracy as directed.Read utility meters manually or using automated equipment at residential, commercial, and industrial properties.Inspect water system components for potential cross-connections and complete required reports.Read and interpret utility maps, records, and other documentation identifying water mains, valves, and service lines.Locate and mark water mains and water services in response to MISS DIG notifications and other requests.Assist with maintaining accurate records related to water distribution system work.

Township Facilities, Parks, and Grounds Perform general maintenance of Township facilities and assist with the operation and maintenance of municipal sites and Kiwanis Park facilities.Maintain parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and other recreational areas.Repair or assist with the maintenance of playground equipment and play structures.Drag, prepare, and line baseball and softball fields.Clean and maintain public restrooms and other public facilities.Perform general plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and maintenance tasks at Township-owned facilities.Plant, prune, maintain, and water trees, shrubs, flowers, and other landscaping.Maintain sprinkler and irrigation systems.Mow Township properties and perform ditch cutting and other grounds maintenance.Pick up and dispose of rubbish, brush, leaves, and other refuse.Remove fallen or hazardous trees and operate wood-chipping ...
