Senior Estimator – Lead Government & Union Heavy Civil Projects for MKD Construction Inc.

* Location: Carson City, NV (Onsite, up to 20% travel required)

The Opportunity:

As a Senior Estimator at MKD Construction Inc., you will leverage your field experience and technical expertise to develop competitive, highly accurate estimates for major heavy civil and government projects.

You will serve as an integral decision-maker, using your deep industry insight to guide bidding strategy and shape project success from the ground up.

In this role, your knowledge, integrity, and leadership will directly drive the company's growth and operational success.

How You Will Make an Impact:


* Lead the preparation of comprehensive, competitive cost estimates for large-scale government, federal, and union civil projects.


* Analyze project plans, site specifications, and field requirements to ensure precise material, labor, and equipment cost projections.


* Collaborate closely with project leadership and field crews to align pre-construction estimates with real-world execution.


* Evaluate subcontractor bids and vendor proposals to build cost-effective and risk-mitigated project budgets.


* Identify project risks and cost-saving opportunities early in the bidding process to maximize project profitability.


* Build and maintain strong relationships with public agencies, municipal partners, and trade union representatives.

Required Qualifications & Experience:


* Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimation and project analysis.


* Hands-on field experience working in heavy civil construction or trade discipline environments.


* Proven track record of estimating public, federal, or government infrastructure contracts.


* Extensive knowledge of union labor regulations, prevailing wage structures, and heavy civil construction techniques.


* Demonstrated ability to read complex engineering drawings, site plans, and technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:


* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.


* Experience with specialized heavy civil estimating software and modern project management tech stacks.
