20001 / Field-Based – Regional Travel Required

Schedule: Monday – Friday; overtime and extended hours may be required based on project schedules

Project Scope: Commercial, Industrial & Utility-Scale Solar Construction

Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Applicable Journeyman Electrician License for Washington, D.C., OSHA 10 Certification, NFPA 70E Certification, and Valid Driver’s License

Prevailing Wage Projects: Eligible projects may be paid at applicable Prevailing Wage (PW) rates.

Prevailing wage rates vary based on the project location, applicable requirements, funding source, and Davis-Bacon requirements.

The Opportunity

Commonwealth Power is seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our growing Commercial & Industrial Solar Construction team throughout Washington, D.C.

and the surrounding DMV region.

This is a hands-on field position for an experienced commercial electrician who can execute complex electrical installations while providing technical leadership on active solar construction projects.

You'll work on roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar systems, install commercial electrical infrastructure, execute wire pulls and terminations, support testing and commissioning, and provide field guidance to apprentices and junior electricians.

How You Will Make an Impact


* Electrical Installation & Construction


* Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems for commercial, industrial, roof-mounted, and ground-mounted solar projects


* Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications


* Bend, thread, route, and install RMC, RAC, and EMT conduit ranging from 1" to 4"


* Mount and wire AC panels, disconnects, switches, junction boxes, inverters, troughs, and data/communications equipment


* Set up and execute long-distance wire pulls and complete safe, code-compliant terminations


* Perform electrical testing, system commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational maintenance


* Use electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively


* Project Execution & Field Leadership


* Provide hands-on leadership and technical guidance to apprentices and junior electricians


* Coordinate daily field activities to maintain project schedules, productivity, and workmanship standards


* Communicate project progress, equipment needs, safety concerns, and field challenges to project leadership


* Complete daily field reports, jobsite inspections, hazard analyses, and toolbox talk documentation


* Receive, inventory, and organize project materials and equipment to prevent workflow delays


* Coordinate with other trades and project personnel to keep projects moving efficiently
