About the Role

With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the Assistant Nurse Manager works in partnership with the Nurse Manager to provide clinical oversight for patient care and nursing services on their assigned unit and shift.

This role promotes high-quality, evidence-based care and patient satisfaction in a fiscally responsive manner.

The Assistant Nurse Manager assists in leading daily unit operations, serving as a clinical role model, lead resource, and mentor for the patient care team.

They facilitate patient care delivery through the continuum of care, participate in staff hiring and performance evaluations, and uphold nursing standards aligned with Magnet® and Shared Governance frameworks.

Compensation & Benefits



* Target Compensation Range: $48.00 – $62.00 / hour (Starting rate depends on clinical experience, education, and relevant certifications in accordance with local pay transparency standards)

Key Responsibilities



* Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan, direct, and coordinate nursing care consistent with organizational core values.


* Partner with patients and family care partners to deliver safe, compassionate, and culturally responsive care based on personal preferences and values.


* Participate in staff recruitment, interviewing, selection, orientation, and regular performance evaluations.


* Oversee shift workflow, serve as a clinical resource for unit policies, and support effective conflict resolution.


* Develop and evaluate staffing plans, schedules, and payroll (via Smart Square) to match patient acuity while managing overtime effectively.


* Support continuous quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance standards (JCAHO, OSHA).


* Serve as a clinical role model, supporting ongoing nursing professional development, research, and council participation within a shared governance model.


* Assist in budget forecasting, cost-saving initiatives, and efficient utilization of unit resources.

What We Are Looking For



* Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.

Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.


* Licensure & Certifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Pennsylvania.
