Foreman-Barge
The Barge Foreman is a skilled professional who leads and participates in the construction, maintenance, and repairs of seawalls and marine structures.
S/he oversees a crew, provides on-site leadership, while also performing hands-on labor.
Responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, such as barges, cranes, excavators, and skid loaders to install various types of seawalls, including sheet piling, forming, and pouring seawall caps.The Barge Foreman is a skilled professional who leads and participates in the construction, maintenance, and repairs of seawalls and marine structures.
S/he oversees a crew, provides on-site leadership, while also performing hands-on labor.
Responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, such as barges, cranes, excavators, and skid loaders to install various types of seawalls, including sheet piling, forming, and pouring seawall caps.
* High School Diploma; bachelor's degree preferred.
* 3+ years of related experience in heavy construction, preferable marine structures.
* Ability to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions and operational issues.
* The ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong knowledge of, experience with, and ability to understand and work with complex mechanical equipment.
* Strong scheduling, problem resolution, communication, and leadership skills.
* Strong analytical skills; very detail oriented, organized, and able to lead, motivate, and guide a work crew.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to understand and follow instructions; function effectively as part of a team; ability to work under pressure; communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
* Proficiency in MS Office.
* Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.

The employee frequently is required to stand, (for up to 8 eight hours), walk (occasionally on rough terrain/in varying weather conditions), climb, use manual dexterity to operate tools used in the course of work, hear sufficient to hear conversations in person, and via telephone and radio, and vision sufficient for distance sight and to read diagrams, computer screens, manual reports, rules, regulations, laws, and plans.
The employee is occasionally required to reach, push, and pull with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Physical dexterity may involve stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions.
