Art Therapist
Join our team as an Art Therapist for our Child Life department!
The Art Therapist provides direct assessment and clinical interventions to patients and families in alignment with all Art Therapy competencies identified by the American Art Therapy Association and are credentialed by the ATCB (Art Therapy Credentials Board, Inc.).
Art Therapists supports children, teens, and family members in the healthcare setting by providing interventions that promote ongoing medical and psychosocial goals.
The Art Therapist utilizes evidence-based practice to plan, organize, and direct art therapy interventions while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to provide trauma informed family centered care.
Acts independently providing a treatment experience and aligns the approach appropriate to the acute medical setting.
Provides an independent assessment, offers consultation to providers and other mental health professionals; provides feedback on mental / behavioral health diagnosis or observations, the effects of and on hospitalization through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship.
Responsibilities:
Assess and prioritize child/family needs for art therapy interventions to address emotional, social, mental, and physical conditions that they are experiencing in the hospital setting.
Cultivate clinical competency knowledge areas by maintaining board certification.
Demonstrate outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) and effectively navigate fast paced, demanding environments while maintaining high level of customer service.
Hold strong competence in creative arts and child life philosophy, ensuring alignment with departmental mission and vision.
Knowledgeable in populations that align with diagnosis of eating disorders, anxiety and depression.
Serve as an interdisciplinary expert in the psychosocial care and development of children of all ages while individualizing care for each patient.
Actively promote a department culture that values diversity, equity and inclusion and represent all ages and abilities.
Serve as a representative of the department on unit-based committees, articulating the therapeutic and clinical nature of the work done by department staff.
Representation on hospital projects with approval by department leadership.
Remain up to date and current with all departmental education and Nemours mandatory requirements.
Qualifications:
* Master's degree required
* Certification through the American Art Therapy Association required
