Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Performs all general facility maintenance under minimum supervision, including routine building preventative and repair procedures along with grounds maintenance.
Includes general carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and grounds-keeping responsibility. Ability to perform a variety of tasks ranging from routine and unskilled to highly skilled. Ability to identify problems, determine possible solutions and actively work to resolve the issue. Ability to take advantage of available resources (personnel, processes, departments and tools) to complete work efficiently. Ability to complete one's own work in a timely fashion. Position reports directly to the assistant director.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Apply basic knowledge of repair and replacement of general fixtures, repair includes; doors, hardware, windows, walls, flooring, ceilings, furniture, and electrical. Assist with renovation/remodeling of buildings.
In conducting repairs, provide positive and responsive customer service to colleagues and students.
* Performs preventive maintenance procedures campus wide.
* Identifies and corrects potential safety hazards.
* Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
* Monitor and troubleshoot effiencies through BAS and DDC controls.
* Assist with upkeep of campus landscapes and primary contact for snow removal.
* Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures and work orders through a CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) software.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize assignments.
* Assist with campus deliveries and moves of offices, furniture, and equipment.
* Participates in a shared, rotating on-call schedule with the facilities team to respond to after-hours emergency maintenance requests.
* Services as a contact for campus snow removal, maintaining on-call availability during winter weather events to ensure campus safety and accessibility.
Work Relationships
Reports directly to the Assistant Director. May exercise some supervision over temporary/part-time summer and work-study workers.
