Manager, Tax Strategy & Controversy

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Global Tax, the Manager, Tax Strategy & Controversy supports the development and execution of Avient's global tax strategy and management of tax controversy matters.

This position plays a critical role in driving strategic tax initiatives, managing tax risk, supporting audits, and partnering cross-functionally across Finance and the broader business.

The role also interfaces closely with Avient's managed services providers to support tax operations.Qualifications

Education and Experience


* Accredited four-year degree in accounting or related field


* Certified Public Accountant, Master's degree in Taxation, or license to practice law preferred


* Strong skills and 7+ years of experience in international tax and controversy, including managing tax audits


* Experience with manufacturing or technology companies preferred


* Broad experience with oversight of complex international tax matters for multinational companies or equivalent experience at Big Four public accounting firms


* Ability to interpret and apply tax rules in relevant contexts to support decision-making and compliance efforts


* Critical thinking and the ability to "own" responsibilities in a fast-paced environment focused on results


* Team player with proven ability to lead and manage projects


* Strong skills in getting and analyzing financial data for tax modeling (Excel)


* Familiarity with SAP, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and OneSource


* Excellent interpersonal communication skills in English (reading, writing, and speaking) with additional regional language proficiency appreciated
