Oakwood Gardens Care Center is seeking a dependable and hardworking Temporary Maintenance Assistant for a 90-day assignment.

This position is ideal for someone experienced in facility maintenance who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents and staff.
Position Overview

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for helping maintain the facility grounds, equipment, and building systems in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities


* Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical repairs


* Maintain facility grounds, parking lots, and outdoor areas through cleaning, trimming, and upkeep


* Replace light bulbs, clean windows/screens, and complete general maintenance tasks


* Assist with servicing heating and cooling systems as directed


* Coordinate maintenance work with nursing staff when working in resident care areas


* Report equipment malfunctions and unsafe conditions promptly


* Ensure maintenance supplies are stocked and equipment is properly stored after use


* Follow all safety precautions and facility procedures when using tools and equipment


* Assist with emergency situations and evacuation procedures if needed


* Maintain confidentiality of resident information and comply with HIPAA guidelines

Qualifications


* Minimum 10th grade education required


* Previous maintenance or facility experience preferred


* Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs


* Ability to follow instructions and work independently


* Strong communication and teamwork skills

Physical Demands


* Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying


* Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs


* Ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed

Work Environment


* Skilled nursing facility setting


* Low to moderate noise level


* Fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with staff and residents
