Supervising Registered Veterinary Technician

A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies throughout Riverside County.

The County of Riverside's Animal Services Department has opportunities for a Supervising Registered Veterinary Technician (SRVT) assigned to the Shelter Medicine Division in both Cathedral City and San Jacinto.

Under general direction, the SRVT will plan, direct, and provide administrative guidance to Veterinary Assistants, Registered Veterinary Technicians, and Animal Services Representatives.

The SRVT will oversee and work with subordinate staff who perform pre-surgery preparatory activities, assist during sterilization surgeries, provide post-surgery care of animals, and support the overall welfare of animals cared for by the Department of Animal Services.

This position may also assist with special events as needed.

Additionally, this position will be responsible for the ordering and management of controlled substances, as well as creating and maintaining a variety of reports.

Competitive candidates will have professional experience in shelter medicine, including high-volume surgical environments Candidates should possess a strong work ethic, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders.

Strong leadership experience or demonstrated leadership skills, proficiency in systems such as Chameleon, Acuity, and PeopleSoft are highly desirable.

Additionally, strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, cross-departmental environment are critical for success in this role.

Applicants must possess a valid certificate as a Registered Veterinary Technician issued by the California Veterinary Medical Board.
