Intern - Mechanical Engineer

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


* Assist with engineering design activities, including updating CAD models and engineering documentation related to facility systems.


* Perform quality checks and reviews of construction drawings to help ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with engineering standards.


* Assist in the reviewing of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for mechanical and utility systems.


* Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project stakeholders to support ongoing engineering projects and initiatives.


* Assist with data entry, documentation management, and project tracking to maintain accurate engineering and project records.

Education & Experience

* Education Level Required: Associate's /Bachelor's


* If bachelor's rising Junior (completed 2 years by start)


*


* Majors: Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related engineering discipline.


*


* Relevant coursework or extracurricular experience in [field or tools] is a plus.


*


* Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date.

Skills & Other Requirements



* Excellent written and verbal communication.


* Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.


* Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.


* Attention to detail and time management.


* Basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer concepts.


* Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, or similar) and interest in developing design and modeling skills.

Additional software skills is a plus.


* Exposure to engineering drawings, schematics, or P&IDs through coursework or projects.

* Internship Duration: 10 - 14 weeks.

* This role will be based on-site in Sherman, TX.


* Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.

Physical Requirements


* Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.


* Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.


* Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
