Position Summary

The Medical Records Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining accurate, organized, and confidential resident medical records in compliance with federal and state regulations and facility policies.

This position supports clinical teams by ensuring timely documentation, chart completion, and proper record management.

Key Responsibilities


* Maintain, organize, and file resident medical records (electronic and paper)


* Ensure charts are complete, accurate, and compliant with privacy regulations (HIPAA)


* Retrieve and release medical records to authorized personnel as needed


* Assist with MDS scheduling and documentation support


* Support audits, surveys, and committee documentation as assigned


* Enter and retrieve resident information in the electronic health record system


* Communicate effectively with nursing and interdisciplinary teams

Qualifications


* High school diploma or GED required


* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail


* Basic computer skills; ability to learn medical record systems


* Knowledge of medical terminology preferred (training provided)


* Ability to type at least 45 WPM


* Team-oriented, dependable, and committed to confidentiality
