Yard Driver: 4:15AM-3:00PM
Position Summary: The Yard Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers 48 to 53 feet in length between dock doors and yard locations within a food manufacturing facility.
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring timely loading and unloading of goods, helping maintain the continuous flow of raw materials and finished products.
This position moves/transports approximately half a million to three quarters of a million dollars of product and supplies on a daily basis.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a yard truck (shag truck) to move trailers to and from dock doors and designated yard areas.
This includes being able to back into a dock proficiently without causing damage to trailer or dock.
Works within a confined yard/terminal, no over the road hauling.
• Involves hooking up trailers to shag cab, unhooking once in place, and applying glad lock safety procedure for each trailer transported.
• Monitor weather, trailer temperature settings and trailer integrity to ensure there is no product compromised or food safety endangered as a result.
• Communicate with warehouse staff, forklift drivers, Security and production team to prioritize trailer movements.
• Yard organization-arrange trailers to prevent congestion and streamline processes.
• Inspect trailers and yard equipment for cleanliness and proper condition before positioning them for loading, in accordance with food safety standards.
Escalate any deficiencies for repair or appropriate action.
• Verify trailer numbers, load status, and documentation to ensure proper placement.
• Maintain daily yard checks and accurate trailer inventory records.
• Assist with minor yard equipment troubleshooting and report any mechanical issues.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, especially regarding food safety, sanitation, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Adhere to safety protocols and promptly report any incidents or unsafe conditions.
• This individual will also be responsible for operating a Skyjack to load and unload freight as necessary.
• May be required to operate a forklift on occasion.
• This role has the responsibility to understand and places in practice appropriate safety procedures.
This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills:
• 1-3 years of experience in related field is preferred.
• Prefer 1 year of experience as a shag driver, or similar role in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Valid driver's license (CDL not typically required but may be preferred).
