Medical Records Technician I-Vital Statistics

The Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Public Health ( Vital Statistics) Department seeks to fill a Medical Records Technician I position (located in Riverside).
Under close supervision, performs a variety of moderately difficult clerical tasks involving the maintenance of patient medical or mental health records; learns the duties and responsibilities of Medical Records Technician I's; performs other related duties as required.

The Medical Records Technician I is the entry level classification in the Medical Records Technician series and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position.

Incumbents assignments have less variety, are less difficult and are performed under closer supervision than those of the next higher class of Medical Records Technician II.

The Medical Records Technician I differs from the Office Assistant series in that positions in the Medical Records Technician I are learning and using medical terminology.

The Medical Records Technician I is a natural progression underfill for the Medical Records Technician II.

Incumbents are eligible to promote to Medical Records Technician II upon successful completion of their probationary period, which would include a satisfactory performance evaluation and any additional qualification requirements.

*The most competitive candidates will possess an A ssociate's/Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in behavioral science, public or business administration, finance, accounting, social services, human services or a related field.
