Loan Closing Specialist I

Job Summary

This position reviews all closed consumer loan files for adherence to government regulations, underwriting standards, and proper documentation procedures.  The incumbent ensures any document deficiencies are resolved to produce pledgeable loan files in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

* Close Home Equity Lines of Credit as well as Consumer loans. 


* Review and verify title, tax, insurance, and other documentation relative to closing transactions for accuracy and completeness.


* Coordinate with loan officers and branch personnel in scheduling loan closings.


* Prepare and send closing packages to ensure closing dates are met.


* Expedite the clearing and curing of any identified document deficiencies.


* Perform duties related to monetary transactions including wire transfers, check cutting, and loan payoffs.


* Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.


* Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations, and laws. 


* Complete all mandatory annual compliance training. 


* Follow regulatory requirements including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and OFAC to assist in the identification, detection, and determent of money laundering and other unlawful activities, as well as regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance to include fair lending laws. 


* Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. 

Job Requirements

Education:


* High school diploma or equivalent.

Required:


* 2+ years of experience in a loan or banking operations role requiring accurate data entry required.


* Thorough knowledge of loan origination, processing, underwriting, and closing guidelines for home equity and consumer loans including vehicle, cash reserves, secured and unsecured loans.


* Knowledge of bank deposit services, loan closing and quality control processes.


* Familiarity with all federal and state banking regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance.


* Excellent attention to detail, with excellent computer, communication, and organizational skills.


* Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Preferred:


* Associate degree in business or related field.
