Forklift Driver - Crating - 2nd Shift

POSITION PURPOSE

This is a shop hourly position with the primary responsibility of facilitating the movement of products at the end of the assembly process.

The Forklift Driver is expected to be a problem solver, critical thinker, and independent worker who maintains a positive attitude and flexibility to meet the needs of both internal and external customers.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

The Mechanic II position is considered semi-skilled and requires a strong foundation in departmental operations, safety awareness, and material handling practices.

A successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

Experience & Equipment Proficiency


* Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating material handling equipment.


* Fully competent in operating all major and minor material handling equipment safely and efficiently.


* Proficient in operating most equipment within the department.


* Knowledge of hazards related to machine operation and adherence to plant safety protocols.


* Demonstrated commitment to safety, including safety-sensitive areas across the department and facility.

Leadership & Team Collaboration


* Proven ability to lead small groups and train less experienced team members (e.g., Mechanic III or Helper).


* Demonstrated flexibility to work at multiple workstations across departments and adapt to change.


* Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams to support plant-wide objectives.

Communication Skills


* Effective oral communication with co-workers, supervisors, and BAC customers; conveys technical information clearly and professionally.


* Strong written communication skills for documenting processes, writing professional emails, and maintaining accurate reports.


* Able to complete departmental paperwork including work orders, maintenance logs, and inspection checklists.

Technical & Analytical Abilities


* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.


* Competent in basic and applied math, including fractional computations and conversions.


* Skilled in using handheld measuring tools, such as tape measures, micrometers, and protractors.


* Computer competency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for updating data and generating metrics in pre-formatted spreadsheets.


* Working knowledge of PeopleSoft or similar ERP systems.
